Essential Tips for Enjoying a Healthy Spring

The first day of spring is here! While you might be suffering through some last few colds days, across the northern hemisphere, things are warming up. Spring means blooming flowers, fresh grass, rain showers, and more. Most importantly, it also means warm weather.

This, in turn, means you can start enjoying more time outdoors. Even if you love winter weather, you’ve probably found yourself limited from enjoying long periods of time outdoors. And if you were outside, you were bundled up.

Now, you can “unbundle” and enjoy the warm weather! Let’s go over some essential tips for enjoying a healthy, vibrant spring.

First, Get Your Workout Routine Into Shape

The often dark, dreary days of winter make it more tempting to skip your work out routine. Do you really want to scrape ice off your car to hit up the gym? And who wants to take a jog when there’s half a foot of snow on the ground?

With spring here, there are no more excuses! You need to set a reasonable work out routine that will get you into shape. One quick tip, don’t shoot for the stars, expecting to land on the moon. Set a routine you can stick to.

Set Your Spring Training Routine Based on Time

The most important aspect, arguably, is commitment. In order to stay committed, set aside a certain amount of time per day to work out. For example, you could commit to spending 40 minutes a day walking or jogging. If you’re too tired to jog, walk. If you find yourself with some extra energy, then jog! But whatever you do, make sure you stick to 40 minutes of activity per day. (Of course, set aside the amount of time that’s right for you.)

No Excuses, Get Your Diet In Shape Too!

You are what you eat. If you eat a lot of junk food, you’re going to struggle to get in shape, no matter what else you do. However, you don’t have to become a vegan guru, especially over night, to get in shape. Instead, spend a week writing down what you eat and how much you eat. Then find things you can cut or substitute with healthier foods.

Let’s say you find you drink three sodas per day. That could easily account for more than 400 calories! So why cut two of those sodas out, and drink carbonated water instead? Or if you eat a candy bar every day, why not swap out for a piece of fruit every other day?

By the way, a great way to start your diet is with a detox. This way, you can flush out all the old, potentially harmful gunk that is building up in your body.

Don’t Let Aches and Pains Wear You Down

Many people start with great routines and effective diets. Then they fall off the wagon. Often, this is due to sore muscles and joints. If you suffer an injury while jogging or caring for your garden, why not treat the pain naturally? You may find yourself back to good health and back to your routine in no time!
